Walter W. "Doc" West

West, Walter W. "Doc" Age 84 of Deephaven, passed away April 11,2012. He was born on October 22,1927 in Park Falls, WI to Dr. Harold Trevor and Mary Weckler West. Preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lois Jane. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Jo; daughters; Lucy (Daniel) Mclnerny of Excelsior, Mary (Thomas) Hall of Minnetonka; sons, Patrick (Robin) of Alpharetta, GA, Thomas (Patrice) of Deephaven, and James of Minnetonka; granddaughters, Oakleigh and Stephanie West and Molly Mclnerny; grandsons, Rob and Patrick Mclnerny, Patrick and Edward West, and Jack and Nicholas Hall; sister, Nan (Robert) Douglas of Neenah, WI; and many nieces and nephews. He graduated from U W-Superior, WI where he played football and basketball. He was inducted into UWS Hall of Fame in 1975. He taught and coached basketball at Superior, WI Central High School where he took two teams to the WI State Basketball Tournament. He taught and coached basketball at DeKalb, IL High School where his team was in the Sweet Sixteen of the IL State Tournament. He spent the last thirty years of his career at Minnetonka High School where he was the Athletic Director, coached football and basketball, taught and was Department Chairman of physical education. He was a fierce advocate of required physical education classes at all grade levels. He was named MN Secondary School Physical Education Teacher of the Year in 1984-85. Memorial service Thursday, April 19, 11:00 am St. Luke Presbyterian Church, 3121 Groveland School Rd., Minnetonka, with visitation Wednesday evening 5-8 pm at the church (952-473-7378). Bill Chisolm Obituary

The following obituary for Bill Chisholm, legendary Minnetonka High School English teacher, appeared in today's StarTribune.

Chisholm, William Bruce age 77, died on February 27. He was born in Fargo, North Dakota. Bill was a graduate of St. John's in Collegeville, MN and was a teacher for many years at Minnetonka High School. In retirement, he also taught at Uskudar Academy in Istanbul, Turkey. He will be most remembered for his love of language and music and his sense of humor. He was a reader and world traveler. He treasured cabin summers. He is survived by his wife, of 29 years, Gretchen Chisholm; son David Chisholm of San Francisco; daughter Ann King of Brighton, England; stepdaughters Jude (Julie) Foster and Lisabeth Foster, both of Minneapolis; four grandchildren; brother Dennis Chisholm and sister Margaret Rand. Memorial service 2 pm Sunday, March 4 at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Ave. S., Edina (952) 924-4100. In lieu of flowers memorials of the donor's choice are preferred.
