Welcome to the Minnetonka Class of '68 reunion blog!

We held our first planning session last night at Maynard's in Excelsior. Attendees were: myself, Donna, Cheryl Ahlcrona, Gail Thacker Ofstehage, Lynn (Steiner) Osborn, and Jo Sampson Dahl. We decided that the optimum time for a reunion would be August, 2008, due to a greater likelihood of finding an appropriate venue during that month (fewer weddings). Feedback that members of the planning committee have gotten indicated that classmates prefer that a reunion be held somewhere within the confines of the school district, which limits our options.

Lynn graciously agreed to contact several venues within the area to determine their availability on a Saturday night in August, 2008. She will report back to the committee by email as soon as she has canvassed them and gotten some idea of cost.

The group decided that the format would be drinks and hors d’oeuvres rather than a sit-down dinner, to facilitate mingling of guests. It was also decided that there will be no band or DJ, since their presence in the past has been distruptive to conversation.

We discussed the notification process for class members. The pattern will be similar to what we have done in the past: an initial postcard to our current database of classmates notifying them of the date and place, a second mailing asking for help in locating missing classmates, and a third mailing asking for reservations. We plan to do the first mailing sometime in November. Since we have been unable to reach Pam Holl Federer, the reunion treasurer, we are unsure of how much we have in our account for startup funds.

Donna agreed to create a blog that we can use to keep class members updated as to the planning progress for the reunion. What you see now is the result of her effort.
